In 1954 Dorothy Dandridge became the first Black woman nominated for an #Oscar for best actress for her role in “Carmen Jones.” Fast forward nearly 50 years… Halle Berry became the first Black woman to actually win the award for her work in “Monster’s Ball.” We can’t help but think she would’ve made Dorothy proud, for not only portraying her beautifully in a biopic, but making history and earning a “first” for Black actresses everywhere. | The Female Quotient
