The word of a Muslim is his honour, and when we give our word, we fulfil it. As long as we are able, we do not delay, and we do not go back on our promise. This morning, just hours before my surgery, I had promised to wash and shroud our 24-year-old brother, Ahmed Akhtar, who passed away on a motorbike. And by Allah’s permission, I honoured that promise. SubḥānAllāh, when you stand in that room, you realise how fragile this life truly is, how quickly it can be taken, and how temporary our bodies
