In the middle of lodgepole forest and huge slabs of granite, lies Tenaya Lake. This alpine lake spans about a mile long, and its bright blue water beckons passerby to breach the sandy beaches and dip their toes in. The water is as still as glass, except for ripples cast by swimmers or paddleboarders, so it is easy to see the aberrations that protrude from the east side of the lake. Are they tree stumps? Logs?
