How does a fridge know when to defrost?

How long does it actually take? ❤️ I’m actually so freaking happy my deep freezer is organized 😭 the top of the freezer is magnetic and I stuck a little magnetic whiteboard on it and wrote down what is in each one of the baskets so we don’t have to go looking for what we want.
