The Louisiana Department of Health confirmed Louisiana’s first human case of West Nile virus this year in an individual from Livingston Parish. The person was hospitalized due to complications from the infection. No further information about the patient will be released, according to LDH.

West Nile virus has been confirmed in three mosquito samples collected throughout the past week just outside the Laramie city limits.
