The Vegas Golden Knights’ front office spent the second day of the decentralized NHL Draft on the second floor of their practice facility. The team made four picks on Saturday, but spent part of the day discussing a trade to acquire the rights of pending unrestricted free agent Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs,

For one, the Golden Knights only have about $5.6 million in cap space. Marner will cost at least double that, so there are some uncomfortable decisions on the horizon. Tomas Hertl has floated in trade rumors as he is owed $6.75 million every year until 2030. Marner is a better overall player, and Hertl would be worthy collateral.
