Jets preseason winners, losers vs. Giants: A block to remember, and big-name roster bubble trouble?
The New York Jets did not back up their strong preseason debut. But it wasn't all bad. Here's who stood out the most.
It would have been less obvious who the Jets plan to be on offense if Tanner Engstrand just shared snapshots from his playbook on the video board.
Justin Fields completed 1 of 5 passes for four yards in two series against the Giants in a preseason game at MetLife Stadium.
Justin Fields and the New York Jets' passing offense struggled against the Giants. Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million deal to replace Aaron Rodgers, completed just one of five passes for 4 yards in the Jets' 31-12 preseason loss Saturday night.
1. Ready to lead: Though they missed his rugged mentality and explosiveness as a pass rusher, the Jets also missed Jermaine Johnson 's attitude. He plays with an edge, a swagger, and his teammates say he's a catalyst on defense.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Getting snaps with the first-team offense, then throwing for a touchdown and running for another with the backups, Jaxson Dart shined in his new home stadium debut for the New York Giants as part of a 31-12 victory against the Jets on Saturday night in each team's second preseason game.
Having finished the first half with a three-and-out while (notably) playing with the starters, Dart lined up for second down at the Jets’ 20-yard line early in the second half. Then he spotted a wide-open Greg Dulcich sprinting over the middle — and fired the ball to him for a touchdown.
The New York Jets have struggled on offense this preseason and head coach Aaron Glenn recently sent a message to his team about it.
