Flames roared through an assisted-living facility in Massachusetts, killing nine people and trapping residents inside, including some who were hanging out of windows screaming for help.
Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey praised first responders in Fall River for their “heroic” work in preventing an “unimaginable loss of life” in a fire at an assisted living facility on Sunday night.
Gabriel House residents described a chaotic scene Sunday night before they were rescued from the blaze that left nine dead and dozens more injured.
Officials said at least nine people died and more than 30 were injured from the fire at Gabriel House in Fall River, Massachusetts.
