Cooler, cloudier conditions and periods of light rain are forecast in County through Friday night as a weakening atmospheric river moves southward into Southern California, according to the National Weather Service.

California's weather remains cool and cloudy, with rainfall focused north of Los Angeles County and lighter showers in the south.

While a stationary atmospheric river dumps rain and snow in northern and central California this week, areas south of Los Angeles, including San Diego, will get significantly less precipitation.

"Rainfall is expected to decrease to the south with around one-quarter to one-half inch for the Inland Empire and Orange County, and around one-third inch across northern San Diego County to around one-tenth inch across southern San Diego County.
