Circle stock rose as much as 235% in its first day as a public company. The stablecoin market is having a moment, also getting attention from lawmakers.

Trading under the ticker "CRCL," shares of the USDC stablecoin issuer opened at $69 after the upsized initial public offering (IPO) priced Wednesday at $31, above its expected range of $27 to $28. The shares finished at $83.23, rising almost as high as $104 in intraday trading.

FOMO helped drive up shares of crypto firm Circle in their stock-market debut. The stablecoin issuer’s stock jumped Thursday, with the company basking in the Trump administration’s embrace of the crypto industry.
