Zak Starkey hasn't shied away from how he felt when The Who fired him, re-hired him, then "retired" him, and in a new interview with The i Paper, Pete Townshend shared his own confusion with the decision that was supposedly made after a recent performance at Albert Hall.

Pete Townshend has weighed in on the acrimonious split between the Who and drummer Zak Starkey, admitting of the situation, "It’s been a mess."

In April, The Who announced they were parting ways with Starkey — who is Ringo Starr’s son — following two shows at Royal Albert Hall in the UK, which saw the likes of Bill Murray, Sadie Frost, Tracy-Ann Oberman, and famed hypnotist Paul McKenna, in attendance.
