Among Republicans, 82% say they have a close friend who is a member of the other party, compared with 64% of Democrats, according to the NBC News poll.
According to the poll, there is an 18-percentage-point gap between the two political parties over whether they have a politically opposite friend. While 82% of Republicans say they have at least one close friend who identifies as a Democrat, 64% of Democrats said the same about having a close friend who is a Republican.
