The latest episode of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kilauea volcano ended at 9:18 a.m. HST on Thursday, February 20, after nearly 13 hours of active lava fountaining, according to the U.S.

Episode 10 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea began at 8:22 p.m. HST on Feb. 19, 2025 with low level fountaining within the caldera, according to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

Kīlauea began erupting from the southwest part of the caldera at approximately 2:20 a.m. HST on December. 23, 2024. Eruptive vents located in the southwest part of the caldera have been intermittently active, with new lava flows intermittently active over parts of Halemaʻumaʻu crater surface.

Kīlauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted once more on Tuesday morning, sending lava fountains soaring up to 330 feet (100 meters) into the air.

Kilauea resumed its on-again, off-again eruption today, the ninth time since Dec. 23 that lava has flowed in Halemaumau crater at the volcano’s summit.
