The northern Twin Cities suburb of Lexington has shut down the city’s Fire Department and fired its chief over concerns about unapproved spending, shoddy record keeping and a lack of training for firefighters.
The boundary changes represent the first updates to the city’s map since 2009. Newly added properties will be subject to stiffer requirements for landowners during peak fire season.
