Florida officials are pursuing plans to build a second detention center to house immigrants, as part of the state’s aggressive push to support the federal government’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

At least some critics of the proposal who oppose restrictions on illegal immigration have taken this position that the concept is flawed morally, though they haven’t said it’s because they want “open borders” per se.

The governor said announcements about plans to build immigration detention centers are expected "very, very quickly."
