Alphabet Inc.’s self-driving car firm, Waymo, said it will begin transporting passengers in a handful of cities near its Mountain View, California, headquarters.

The company is operating in a 27 square-mile service area that includes Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, and parts of Sunnyvale.

With Waymo up to 200,000/week, total rides are now well over a million a month. The robotaxi is here. But people mistake it for Uber because it looks like that today.

Waymo has begun offering their self-driving ride services to select customers in Mountain View, Los Altos, Palo Alto and parts of Sunnyvale.

Starting today, if you call an Uber in Austin you can match with a self-driving Waymo vehicle. The launch in the Texas capital is part of an expanded partnership between the two tech companies. Waymo’s autonomous vehicles are already available on the Uber platform in Phoenix, and the companies plan to launch next in Atlanta.

Waymo 's self-driving taxis will now be cruising Silicon Valley streets for riders. The autonomous taxi service has expanded to 27 square miles in Silicon Valley, including Mountain View and Palo Alto. The 24/7 service started on March 11.
