President Trump said the US knocked out a “big facility” linked to drug trafficking, later describing a “major explosion” at a dock where boats were loaded with drugs, in an apparent reference to Venezuela.

President Donald Trump said that the United States "knocked out" a "big facility" in Venezuela last week, in what appears to be a reference to a strike on a drug trafficking site in the country.

In a vague and offhand comment, the president claimed that the U.S. hit a target inside the country on Christmas Eve.

The administration provided no details of what the president said was an attack last week linked to U.S. efforts to disrupt drug trafficking from Latin America.

Two members of Venezuela’s Wayuu indigenous community in the area told NBC News that they witnessed an unexplained explosion on Dec. 18 that destroyed a hut that possibly was used for storage.
