The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported another pediatric death linked to the flu this week. The Louisiana Department of Health confirms, that death was in Louisiana. In all, the CDC says this flu season has resulted in 5,000 deaths, 120,000 hospitalizations, and 11,000,000 illnesses.

The Louisiana Department of Health has released the list of the most popular baby names for boys and girls in the state for 2025, with Noah and Amelia topping the charts.

Nearly 1.1 million Louisiana residents live in rural parishes, with 37% covered by Medicaid and 22% covered by Medicare.

The money will help recruit and retain doctors and nurses, treat rural residents with chronic health conditions and shore up rural hospitals and clinics, among other uses.
