Kolkata: Junior Doctors front have announced to call off their strike regarding the RG Kar College rape and murder incident on September 19. The doctors will return to their work from1. Emergency services will resume but OPD services will remain suspended.

Junior doctors in Bengal have decided to end their large-scale protest over the rape and murder of a fellow doctor at a hospital in Kolkata. They announced that they will return to work on Saturday, although with a condition: they will not participate in OPD services or attend elective operations.

After a 42-day-long strike, junior doctors in Kolkata on Thursday night announced that they will resume emergency services from Saturday. However, the protest has not been completely called off. The doctors clarified that they will continue to abstain from serving out-patient departments (OPDs) across government hospitals in the city.

Striking junior doctors in India's West Bengal state agreed to resume essential services, in a partial resumption of medical facilities, but they will continue their strike over the rape and murder of a colleague over a month ago.
