Florida lawmakers began moving forward with a plan to try to bolster security on state college and university campuses.

A suspect is in custody and multiple victims have been reported following an active shooter incident on the Florida State University (FSU) campus Thursday afternoon, according to the Associated Press.

The "school guardian" bill comes after a deadly shooting last year at Florida State University, where two people were killed and five others were injured at the hands of a student.
