N EWARK, NJ — Newark residents can expect extra bus traffic downtown if the NJ Transit train engineer strike continues next week, public safety officials say.

NJ Transit offered Paramount Assets $6.6 million for the property, court documents show. Paramount Assets’ investment and reuse of the building was applauded by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka in 2018.

Newark is among New Jersey’s poorest cities, with a median household income of $49,688 and an unemployment rate upwards of 55%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Once an applicant is approved, Invest Newark will distribute 50% of the funds, with additional funding disbursed to cover 90% of the monthly build-out costs until the grant has reached 100%.

As an alternative option, the airport is offering a shuttle bus service between downtown Newark, NJ’s Penn Station, and the AirTrain Station every 20 minutes.
