Republicans swept the local elections in Delaware County, with Indiana Representative Sue Errington being the only Democratic candidate to win a race in the county.

New Castle County's executive, council president and council seat races were largely decided before the election began, given that many candidates ended up running unopposed and most of them incumbents.

While incumbents reigned in state races in Delaware's southernmost county, the Sussex County Council will have not two but three new members come January. Democrat Jane Gruenebaum shook things up by taking the District 3 seat from incumbent Sussex County Councilman Mark Schaeffer.

Delaware voters are selecting their next governor, lieutenant governor and members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
