During the latest episode of Sportsnet's Saturday Headlines, Elliotte Friedman reported that the Boston Bruins "appear to be in the driving seat" for Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson. In addition, Friedman shared that the Bruins are the only team that have been given permission to speak with Andersson about a potential contract extension.

Boston is among a small group of teams heavily pursuing Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who is expected to be traded as part of Calgary’s rebuild. SportsNet Canada’s Darren Dreger tweeted:

Aspirot arrived in Boston in July after inking a one-year, two-way contract with the organization. The undrafted blueliner found himself in Providence to start the year after training camp. Aspirot was familiar with the AHL; it is where he spent the entirety of his previous six seasons.

At 18:14 of the first period, Wyatt Kaiser found the puck high in the zone and skated it a bit closer to the net before sniping one home for a 2-0 lead. It looked like the Blackhawks were well on their way to victory at that point.

The Bruins made a trade and a call-up before heading to Chicago on Friday. Boston sent seldom-used tough-guy Jeffrey Viel to Anaheim for a 2026 fourth-round pick and called up defenseman Billy Sweezey on an emergency basis.

The Rasmus Andersson trade sweepstakes continues to intensify. TSN's Darren Dreger reported that four teams remain in the mix for the Calgary Flames defenseman, split evenly between the Eastern and Western conferences.
