New York City voters head to the polls today to cast ballots in the Democratic mayoral primary. There are 11 candidates, including former N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

While preliminary returns will be released after the polls close Tuesday, a winner might not emerge for a week because of the city’s ranked choice voting system.

A day before New York City’s mayoral primary election, all eyes are on Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialist candidate looking to topple former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to be on the Democratic ticket.
