Tarik Skubal struck out a season-high 12 and carried a perfect game into the sixth inning as the Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to five games with a 2-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Skubal recorded those 12 strikeouts Friday thanks to an incredible 32 swings and misses. That's 32 swings and misses on 96 total pitches, so exactly one-third of his pitches were whiffs, and only 59 swings.

The Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies play the first game of a doubleheader and second game of their 3-game series in Denver on Thursday.

It's Thursday, May 8, and the Tigers (23-13) are in Denver to take on the Rockies (6-29). Tanner Gordon is slated to take the mound for Colorado, while Detroit has not named a starter.
