TORONTO — TORONTO — Manulife Financial Corp. (MFC) on Wednesday reported first-quarter profit of $337.8 million. On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 17 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 69 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 9 cents per share. The financial holding company posted revenue of $8.79 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $8.79 billion, exceeding Street forecasts.
