As spring training opens across Major League Baseball, the Red Sox and Cardinals are reportedly re-engaged on a potential Nolan Arenado trade.

In addition to being one of the teams in pursuit of Bregman, the Red Sox have also been connected to Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado on the rumor mill. Arenado, who has three years and $74 million left on his contract, would have to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate any deal.

On Tuesday, Craig Breslow suggested the Red Sox remained “hopeful” about the possibility of adding a righthanded hitter to the lineup. One potential solution that has legs: A trade for third baseman Nolan Arenado.
