The weather even triggered a tornado warning for parts of Ocean and Monmouth counties in New Jersey. That warning expired at 7:15 p.m. A heat advisory was in effect across much of the area from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with feels-like temperatures over 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Jersey Shore region. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected Tuesday afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 16 miles west of Toms River, moving east at 20 mph. Radar indicates rotation.
