Michael Madsen's cause of death has been confirmed less than a week after the veteran actor was found unresponsive in his home after years of him battling booze demons.

"The doctor's report is accurate that he died from heart failure," said Smith, referring to a statement that Madsen's cardiologist made to NBC4 Los Angeles. He added that "heart disease and alcoholism" were named as "contributing factors."
