New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez reportedly suffered a hamstring injury when he went down at Monday's practice.

Despite the ominous report, the Patriots have received a major update on the All-Pro corner. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, sources have told him that Gonzalez suffered a hamstring injury, but that will not impact his ability to start in Week 1. That is massive news for the Patriots, especially with how impactful Gonzalez has been.

The Patriots’ other projected starting cornerback, Carlton Davis, has yet to fully participate in a practice since camp began. The nature and severity of Davis’ injury were unclear as of Wednesday. Before one practice last week, Vrabel said the offseason signing would be sidelined for a “maintenance day.”
